Why I Recommend Adventure Utah Elopements
If you are dreaming about a Utah elopement, you have probably already noticed the big question that pops up fast: Should we do a partial-day elopement or go all-day?
And I get it. Four hours sounds efficient. It sounds simple. It sounds like, “We will get the photos, say our vows, and go grab dinner.”
But here is the honest truth, friend to friend. The emotional difference between four hours and all day is huge. Not because more hours automatically mean better photos, but because more hours give you something way more valuable.
Space.
Space to breathe.
Space to feel it.
Space to let the day actually become a day, not a sprint.
Let me walk you through why I almost always recommend all-day elopements as a local in Moab, Utah.
The emotional difference between four hours and all day elopements
A partial day elopement is often built on a tight timeline. You are watching the clock, moving quickly, and trying to fit the “must have” moments into a small window.
That can feel like:
- arriving and instantly needing to perform
- rushing through getting ready
- squeezing in vows and photos back to back
- driving while stressed because the light is fading
- skipping meals, skipping water, skipping the quiet
Even if nothing goes “wrong,” it can still feel like you barely had time to be present.
Now compare that to an all-day elopement.
All-day elopement days you get to slow down. It gives your nervous system time to settle. It gives you room to laugh and cry without immediately needing to pull yourself together for the next thing.
And that is why it feels different.
Because you are not trying to fit your wedding day into a short appointment.

Moab is one of my favorite places on earth for an elopement. It is wild and cinematic and somehow feels like another planet in the best way.
But Moab also has one very real factor that affects your day.
Drive distances.
A lot of the most iconic Moab locations are not just a quick hop from each other. Even if two places look close on a map, the drive and the access time can add up fast.
Here are some things that quietly eat time in Moab:
- Driving between trailheads and overlooks
- Waiting for the best light to actually show up
- Hiking slower than you thought because you are in wedding clothes
- Dealing with parking and crowds depending on the season
- Taking breaks because the desert is gorgeous and you need to catch your breath
With a partial day, that can turn into stress. With an all-day timeline, it becomes part of the adventure.
Instead of feeling like, “We have to race the sun,” it becomes, “We get to follow the light.”
And that is the vibe I want for you.
All-day elopements turn your wedding into documentation, not a photo shoot
This might be the biggest reason I love all-day coverage.
With a partial day, photography can unintentionally become the main event. It can feel like you are hopping from pose to pose, moment to moment, trying to make sure you “got everything.”
With all-day coverage, the photos become something different.
They become documentation.
We are not just creating pretty images, we are capturing the full shape of your day.
The way your hands shake a little while you button up.
The way you look at each other when it finally sinks in.
The way you laugh when your hair is doing whatever the wind wants.
The way the desert quiet feels like a blessing.
It is not a styled shoot with vows squeezed in.
It is a wedding day, honestly lived, and beautifully held.
What an all-day Utah elopement can look like
Every couple is different, but here is a sample flow that feels relaxed and real:
- Coffee on the balcony overlooking the Colorado River and canyons
- Horseback riding adventure with breathtaking views
- Back to the resort for lunch and then getting ready for your ceremony
- an unrushed ceremony in the best light
- time to celebrate after, cry, hug, breathe, and maybe eat some cupcakes on the cliff side with family and friends
- sunset, blue hour, maybe even stargazing and capturing the Milky Way
- ending the day with dinner, or a campfire
Notice what is missing.
Rushing. Not a single moment is rushed.
“But do we really need all day?”
Need? Not always.
But if you want your Utah elopement to feel like a whole experience and not just a highlight reel, all-day is the easiest way to make that happen.
I would rather give you too much breathing room than not enough.
One thing people don’t realize is how HUGE Moab really is. It takes about 45 minutes to go from downtown Moab to any of the destination elopement ceremony locations.
It’s not possible to get Arches and canyons in a partial day experience. Can you still have an amazing experience, yes? Can it capture all that Moab has to offer? No.
A recommendation if you are on the fence
If you are choosing between four hours and all day, ask yourself this:
Do we want this to be efficient, or do we want to make the most of our day with adventure?
If you want to truly experience Moab on your wedding day, go all day. Especially in Moab.
You will never regret giving yourselves the celebratory adventure that only Moab can offer.
